Tuesday 9th October 2012 at 1.30pm
NCVO Conference Suite, Society Building, 8 All Saints Street, London N1 9RL.
On the 9thOctober, WorkPlaceLive hosted our first ever event along with ShoNet at the NCVO Conference Suite.
The seminar was primarily for NCVO members and we hoped to provide a forum which would not only explain the services offered by both of our companies but also help to de-mystify the cloud, some of the terminology used and give some balanced advice to those charities thinking about updating their I.T.
After an introduction to the cloud and our services by Richard Butcher, Sales & Marketing Manager at WorkPlaceLive, Chris Bryan from Oakleaf talked about his experiences before and after moving to cloud computing. Chris’ presentation was given extremely positive feedback and delegates said that they enjoyed his light hearted and honest case study. You can see the Oakleaf case study here.
After Q&A’s, Chris Atwood from Salesforce gave a presentation which outlined their 10 user license offer to Charity users and Steve Rose from ShoNet talked about their relationship with Salesforce and ShoNet‘s consulting service.
To finish the afternoon’s presentations, Sona Mahtani from The Selby Trust gave an amusing reflection of their historical IT problems and how ShoNet had helped to resolve these. A short summary can be found here: Selby Trust
Sona’s presentation lead us nicely to a short and informal networking session not withstanding the huge cakes which had been baked on site especially for us!
Delegates from the afternoon were able to enter a draw for a free I.T Healthcheck and feedback from the afternoon was very positive:
Chris Taylor from NCVO said:
“NCVO were delighted to host a seminar on Cloud Computing. The changing work patterns in society today with more remote and home working make the cloud an ideal solution for organisations that are embracing this changing work culture. The cloud is becoming a reality for many charities who can benefit from accessing files and data from anywhere and also the added security that the cloud can offer. We are delighted to be working with WorkPlaceLive as a Preferred Supplier and they are well positioned to help charities embark on this journey.”
WorkPlaceLive are already planning our next Seminar which will take place in early Spring 2013.
